Sholapur


The city of Sholapur lies on the south border of Maharashtra close to the Karnataka state. Due its border location, the city has a mix of three cultures the Marathi, Telgu and Kannada. The cotton mills in the city are an important factor for the economy of the city. The city of Sholapur is very famous for its bedding accessories specially the “Chaddars” made in the city. These chaddars have acquired a lot of fame for the city since ancient times. The Sholapur city is the 4th largest city or District in the complete state of Maharashtra when it comes to geographical area. The total area occupied by the Sholapur city is almost around 5,748 square miles of land. This area is occupied mostly by land and only 3 acres by a water body which is a lake in the vicinity of the city. When the last census was measured in the year of 2006 the population of the city was around 872,478. No census has been taken after the year 2006 in the city. The typical Indian Subtropical climate is observed in the city. The climate of the city is quite moderate.
