Zacatecas





Zacatecas, Mexico has an area of 73,252 sq km and a population of about 1,367,600. Its capital is Zacatecas City.

Zacatecas is bounded by the Mexican states of Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, Aguascalientes and San Luis Potosí. The topography of the state is characterised by mountain ranges and plateaus.


Zacatecas is predominantly inhabited by Creoles and Mestizos (mixed indigenous and foreign ancestry). In pre-Hispanic times, this region was home to by various Indian tribes including the Huicholes, Coras and Tepehuano.
