Nagasaki

Tourist guide Nagasaki

Nagasaki, capital of Nagasaki Prefecture, is a port city on Kyushu’s island, too.
Up to now Nagasaki has been playing an important role in foreign trade being one of the fewest ports open to a restricted number of foreign traders during Japan's period of isolation.
Recent history teaches us that Nagasaki has become the second city after Hiroshima destroyed by an atomic bomb at the end of World War II.
Among its attractions are:
Nagasaki Peace Park, commemorating the drop of the atomic bomb
Confucian Shrine, dedicated to Confucius
Chinatown .
Meganebash, nice bridge in Central Nagasaki
Oura Church, Japan's most famous Christian church
At present nearly 90 million people consider themselves Buddhists, though religion does not influence locals everyday life much. Funerals are usually celebrated according to the Buddhist style
